July Update

Hello friends!

I just wanted to give a quick update on what God's been doing as the year begins. I just got back from a staff retreat with people who will be working on all our campuses around North Texas. It was a fantastic time of getting to know people and starting to build relationships that will impact the rest of the year. Some of these people I've known and gone through ministry with, some I hadn't interacted with very much before. We spent time talking about and preparing for ministry at our various campuses. A lot of what is happening right now is preparation for Welcome Week, which is a time where colleges put on a lot of events for incoming students, and we want to be the first ones to welcome them in and be their friends in this new chapter in their lives. We also had a lot of time to build up the team, playing games and walking around in nature.

These are the men who will be working with guys from all different backgrounds. I was constantly in awe of how these men did friendship, how they loved, and took a genuine interest in the lives of the people around them.

My classes also started this morning. The other apprentices and I began our journey working to read through the Old Testament this month. It's a lot of reading, but I am learning so much already and I can see our team of apprentices getting closer as we take on the challenge of learning as much as we can while engaging and sharing in the lives of college students.

I am super excited to get to share this year with you. The retreat did its job well in that I feel more prepared to go into my job this year, but more than that, it refreshed my passion for campus ministry. I am anxiously waiting to get on campus and get to see how God impacts the lives of new students this year. Thank you again to all of you who are supporting me in this work! This is a team effort and and couldn't be happier to have such amazing people deciding to be a part of this!

Peace and Love, Always

  1. Thanks for sharing, Jesse! I like your candid photos of our retreat. It was definitely a fun and refreshing time to get us ready for the new year! I am praying for you as you study the Old Testament and start reaching out, especially to those Richland students! Love you!
